Less Is More Horsemanship Forum
Welcome to the Less Is More Forum. This forum is to post questions, comments, suggestions, ideas, principles, concepts and ideas regarding Natural Horsemanship and more importantly, the philosophy of "Less IS More". This is a place where like-minded people can come to throw away all the old traditional ways of training, and riding, and begin to experience a new FREEDOM in their relationship with their equine partners. Whether your goal is to learn more about natural horsemanship, get support for your own personal Less Is More belief, find solutions for problems that are hindering your relationship, begin a journey of discovery or healing, this is your home. Regardless of what the current "fads" are in traditional circles or natural horsemanship circles, I encourage you to think 'outside the box'. Feel free to post a message.

Nevzorov Haute Ecole

I just ran across this and I'm totally confused about this school. What are your feelings on it? Thanks

Re: Nevzorov Haute Ecole

I will step out on a limb here because I know several of his studnets browse through this board, but at this point, it doesn't matter too much for me..

I applied and was accepted as a long distance student. What I found was a lot of people making a lot of derogatory comments about NH clinicians and programs that they know absolutely nothing about. Most of it coems from second hand knowledge and what they have read and heard on internet boards.

They are European, so I tried to remember that their horsemanship is much different than American horsemanship...mostly it is a cultural thing. One point in particular...there was a discussion on training sticcks (carrot sticks, etc) and they spoke negatively about them and how the NHers abused the horse with them, etc., etc...however their own teacher Nevzorov uses a long whip in his videos. Understanding the European concept of high school and horsemanship, can we safelt then assume (as they do) that Nevzorov abuses horses with the whip?

He has some wondeful students who are very knowledgeable and have great partnerships with ther horses...Donald in France and Michael in Canada..there are a few in the U.S. as well.

I originally liked his prnciples and thiking, and thats why I applied to be his student. I though to myself that finally here was a mentor who's philosophy lined up with mine....but I was wrong...

...when I joined the school I found some things that I didnt care for...

1) You can be barred from the school if you participate in any form of horse eventing. You can be barred from the school if you even associate with people who are involved in horse sports.

2) He demands total loyalty to his program only. According to him his is the only program that takes the horse into consideration. if I had the best way for horses, i would be sharing it openly as I do now.

3) His videos show a lot of finished product but there is no real teachng as to how to acheive this. No real instruction. A lot of philosophical discussions and principles but not how to apply them. I even once asked if they could begin puttin glessons online for studnets to follow. As of a couple of months ago,, they had yet to do this. We all know we can put up a video on YouTube or MySpace in five minutes, but he won't do it because then it wouldnt be secretive any longer. Check out his site and you will see very little instruction or progress. Same old postings all the time.

4) his studnets all make derogatory comments (especially against Parelli) and say how Parelli is more of a cult, yadda, yadda, yadda...yet they act and follow Nevzorov in EXACTLY the same manner. There is a video and an article posted online where Nevzorov himself states that Parelli is the best place to start NH learning.

it is my opinion (for what that is worth) that he would like to be the "Parelli" of the Europe. His followers have believed in his hype.

he demands that you commit to not riding your horse and not riding at all if necessary.

I am in hopes that they have changed their instructionals and are now in the process of giving some great detailed instruction.

I think his philsophy is good and I would love to see a huge movement but I doubt this will happen anytime soon...

It is still worth checking out .

Re: Nevzorov Haute Ecole

I forgot to add that in order to "apply" to this "school" you have to answer a lot of application questions...then your application is reviewed by the other students and they get to ask you a lot of questions...and they vote whether to allow you membership as a student.

Seems like alot to go through to be an internet student.....

if it is THAT revolutionary, spread it through the world...get out there and be an evangilist for horses and get people to change....don't hold it back ir hide it form those who absolutely need to hear it and see it.

but thats just me....

Re: Nevzorov Haute Ecole

Yea, that's what I suspected. Thanks for the detailed response.

Right now I'm working (playing) through L2 groundwork with my (3 this month!) horse. (We finished L1 groundwork) I have ridden him a few short times, but that has come to a stop since he threw me bareback in the pasture, last month. (Though I walked away from it I fractured my knee) I think he was stressed with his herd mates around him and couldn't take it anymore. (It was my fault)

Since completing the L1 groundwork I've noticed allot of changes in him, but I think that was all because of my changes in thinking. I took your advice and didn't "hop around" different systems and couldn't be happier. I know their is no magic answer. It just takes time and dedication. Thanks

Re: Nevzorov Haute Ecole

thats right...the only reason that I asked is because I am in the process fo scheduling 3 clinics for sometime in the next month and a half...but...unfortunately, none of them are near you.

Re: Nevzorov Haute Ecole

Hi Michael,
Where are the clinics? I live in Saint Louis, Missouri. Are any of them near me? I would LOVE to come to a clinic. As soon as we move to a home with acreage, and I no longer have to board my horse, I will be contacting you to set up a clinic!

brittany...

The clinic is in Edwardsville...maybe a couple of hours north of you (if that much)

Are you willing to travel to that clinic?

We are in the process of scheduling it and we should be having it around mid-October.
