Message:   All of these events took place on the little island of Puakonakai. First the missionaries resorted in getting a British Sea Captain to get rid of the King, his children, and loyal workers. Afterwards, a greedy horde of thieves discovered white gold, guanu, or phosphate. These Englishmen wanted the phosphate so badly, they literally turned the entire island into a personal fortune for themselves, their company and three nations. The Phosphateers literally turned the natives into lying, cheating, greedy land grabbing thieves. He gave them practically nothing in return for the phosphate but he became the savior of his company. He was praised by the British, Australian, and New Zealand political dignitaries. All he was really, was a money, title grubbing high class thief. This thief was named Arundel and he was helped by pirates such as Ellis, Montensen, Denson, Lord Standmore and many others.

The missionaries got the British Sea Captain to remove the Royal Family. The Captain disembarked them at Kosrae Island, approximately 650 miles to the Northwest of Puakonakai. The British had complete control of the now called Gilbert and Ellis Island Groups, however, they did not acquire Puakonakai by the year 1899. Through a trading company based in the Marshall Islands on the island of Likeip, the Germans controlled all the trading in the Marshalls, Carolinas and Nauru (Pleasant) Islands. The King with his three children and a handful of followers were left on Kosrae Island, much to the dismay of the Kosraen King. Much fighting occurred before the Puakonakai King secured a piece of land on Kosrae to live on.

By 1899, the central Pacific was divided in half by German and Britain with American whalers and pirates running rampant.

The Missionaries arriving in the 1850s had converted almost all the native to Christianity. The Kings and Queens that had embraced the religion were respected as land owners and given some honors. However, it was the preachers, elders and deacons that actually ran the governing of the people. A British Governor (Campbell) based on Tarawa Island acted as King, lording over all “brownies” under his domain. Thus, he recognized no Royal Families as rulers. Most of the islanders still paid tribute to the Traditional Royal Families of their island but no longer bowed to them. The Governor and Missionaries were clearly in charge of their day to day activities.

Puakonakai (Ocean/Banapa) Island was not claimed by the Germans nor British. It was located out of the way, a little speck of land in the Pacific of no profitable use to anyone. This was true until the white gold or phosphate was discovered on a neighboring island by the British. Nauru was under German control and when the British discovered the phosphate, a master plan had to be devised so as to get the rights to mine Nauru and Ocean Islands rich resources. Arundel, and Englishman, decided it would be almost impossible to get German permission to mine Nauru, but by reason that Ocean Island was only 160 miles to the east of Nauru, it must be a similar type of phosphate island. He had a company man go to the island of Ocean, discovering not only phosphate, but a very high grade of phosphate. Therefore, the British now set their sights on Ocean Island. Since the British had not incorporated Ocean Island into a nearby Gilbert Island chain, this had to be accomplished immediately, preferably before the Germans discovered his reasoning and claim-jumped. Arundel, with the assistance of Lord Standmore of Britain, managed to get control of Ocean Island and had it incorporated into the Gilbert Island chain.

Soon they attained the rights to mine Nauru as well. Nothing was stopping them as the King of Ocean Island was removed to Kosrae Island and allowed only visits to his original kingdom with permission.

This is the Royal Families’ Story of how and why they never received any monies or royalties for the takeover and rape of their island. For over 110 years, the Royal Family fed and cared for their subjects. Now, the commoners became “Christians”, with the characteristics of lust and greed over goods and monies.
