*** REPORT FOR GMCC ROUND 2 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 27/4/08 ***

Tony Craig was the man on a mission @ Round 2 of the Grampian MCC's 2008 Club Championship. Truly he had the bit between his teeth as he took 3 convincing race wins in the A Group, leaving Pete Mitchell to settle for second spot ahead of local rider George Stewart in 3rd.

TC WAS IN A CLASS OF HIS OWN.

The B Group honours went to Kevin Milne with 2 race wins followed by second spot in the final race, just loosing out to Paddy Whitehead who improved steadily throughout the day to take second overall with his final race win giving him a 2 point advantage over Leon Murray in 3rd spot. Well done Chutney, 3rd place in the final race.

The C Group produced some excellent entertainment with 3 different race winners, Race 1 to John Kirk, Race 2 to Phil Goffin and Race 3 to Stewart Robb, first time out on his new fuel injected 450 Suzuki, however young John Kirk took the overall honours on his 125 KTM, with Phil 2nd and Stewart in 3rd.

In the Schoolboy classes we start with the Auto's. Aidan Campbell of Nairn, 3 starts, 3 wins, closely followed home in each race by Invernessian Finlay Retson with Alexander Brown in 3rd spot each time out. A good turnout of 11 autos made for good racing on the extended and upgraded Woodside Auto Track.

Next was the 65 class, a wee bit down in numbers @ the moment. Kieran Hunter took the Overall Victory with 2 race wins followed by a 2nd to Ash Darling who took 2nd o/a with Ben Edwards securing 3rd o/a with 3 consistant third placings.

The 85 s/w class saw 3 local riders battle it out for Championship points with Ian Fidlay taking top spot from Elgin Loon Shawn Sinclair with Kierron McCarroll in 3rd .

Big wheeled 85's were out in good numbers with young Iain Mackenzie dominating the scene with 3 race wins ahead of Alex Mitchell in 2nd, just pipping Lossie Loon Josh Craig by 2 points, A great days racing.

FRASER CALDER, 3 STARTS, 3 WINS, WELL DONE YOUNG MAN

Last but not least was the 125/250 Schoolperson class which saw Fraser Calder pull away from the rest of the field in each race to take the overall with 3 race wins, Lewis Dawson taking a trio of runner up spots finishing 8 points ahead of Stewart Kelman who secured a well deserved 3rd o/a.

JODI GRIGOR, GIVIN IT SOME GIRL POWER

A big thanku from all to GMCC for laying on an excellent event @ a first class venue, they even provided sunshine for the whole day, can't be bad.

Next local event is Round 2 of the Scottish Quad Championship on the 4th of May @ the Whiteness circuit just west of Nairn, closely followed by a solo event @ Rhynie the following weekend.
