The Highland Motocross Club hosted the second round of the Scottish Youth and Adult MX2 Motocross Championships at Ardersier, near Inverness, at the weekend. The club had done a wonderful job of preparing a truly awesome track that had the competitors from all over Britain raring to get racing. Adult MX2. Sean McDonald was the man on form taking the lead in the first of Sunday's three races and holding it till the flag. Neil Flockhart came home in second being chased all the way by Ryan Blair. The second encounter was all about whether Sean could catch the fast starting Neil and make the pass. Sean tried all he knew to close within yards on the penultimate lap but he could not manage to get by and had to settle for second. Sean made no mistakes in the third race and stormed to a convincing win with Ewan Mclaren squeaking second by fractions of a second from third placed Neil Flockhart. The overall results show Sean McDonald in first, Neil Flockhart in second and Ewan McLaren in third. Youth 125 and youth MX2. These two classes were run together and setting the highland heather on fire were Gary Sharp in the 144/250f class and Ryan McLean on his screaming 125 two stroke. Youth 85cc Big Wheel. As is now becoming the norm Matthew Flemming dominated proceedings in spite of his injured foot with four easy victories. As each round of the Scottish Championship allows each competitor to drop his worst result Matthew did not go out in his last race and handed the overall victory to the ever improving Cameron Pendreich. Youth 85cc Small Wheel. Having made the trip up from England Sam Winterburn was expecting great things but Ryan Livingstone had not read his script and fought to four victories, with Sam ending up second overall and Greg Queen third. Youth 65cc. Jay Lamb had no serious challengers all weekend with five runaway victories, Keiran Hunter and Connor Curran battling over second and third. Youth Automatic 50cc. Local youngster Aiden Campbell ran amock to win all the races with Alexander Brown in second. Results.
