  4. Are all of the hunters on the show friends in real life and do you support each other in your hunting efforts?
Some of us hunters knew each other just in passing before the show, but at the closest there is a 50 mile distance between us. People think we live close but we live hours apart. Down here in south Louisiana we always help out our neighbors - or even people we don't know - so I would say if one of the other guys needs me - I'll do my best to be there.

  5. Can you give some family history , like how many generations have lived there in Louisiana, and is everyone still living in the area?
The Mitchell side - my grandparents moved here in early 1900's and began farming strawberries not long after (Ponchatoula is called "Strawberry Capital" they moved from Mississippi. My mother and father are still residents here and my oldest daughter and her family actually remodeled and live in the house me and my 4 sisters and brothers(who also all live closeby) grew up in. My youngest daughter only lives about and hour away. My mother's side of the Family (Hebert) were also Strawberry farmers. My mother and father grew up about a mile apart and built my family home right in between their parents.

  6. What's up with Lil'Debbie - Do you have stock with them? :)
Tyler has always eaten whatever we ate, whether it would be ice cream, jambalaya or fried fish/gator. So when my girls were younger we would always eat zebra cakes for snacks and Tyler fit right in with us. He now demands them! I don't have stock or anything with lil debbie - we have met and sponsored them in a few events.

  7. Is it illegal to hunt gators at night?
Gator hunting has so many laws and regulations, but each one has a reason behind it. Night hunting is illegal - LA wildlife and fisheries site states : Alligators may be harvested between official sunrise and sunset only. No nighttime harvest is allowed. you can visit their site for lots more regulation info: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/alligator-hunting-regulations-overview

  8. Do you plan on rebuilding the camp? Or have you already?
We have gotten so many questions since the episode about my family camp aired. The camp that was destroyed was my Hebert Family camp - which both my grandmother and grandfather have passed - it was not in the best condition, but it just amazed me that it was completely gone when I went to check on it. I don't own that property so I can't rebuild, If you go to my website you can see the status of the camps my wife and I are building - we are going to offer them for vacation rental - when they are complete.

  9. Whats the size & weight of the biggest gator you've caught?
I really don't measure b/c I do all of the processing myself, I don't have to measure to sell them. It may be about 12 or so feet in the wild.

  10. Have you ever been bitten by a gator?
I've been bitten several times by all sizes of gators. My worst bite was in 1984 on our farm - it was one of our bull gators that I would hand feed while giving guided tours - he thought my hand was food - another gator jumped on him and knocked my hand out of his mouth - I had to get about 75 stitches but I recovered, he didn't stop me for long!

  11. Where did you get Tyler from and how old is he?
Tyler is about 12 years old, we adopted him from a shelter for my youngest daughter, Janice. We are not sure what kind of dog he is ? The only problem with getting my girls a pet/dog is that they would always end up sooo spoiled by me :) when Janice got married she moved to Indiana, but Tyler didn't want to leave me so he stayed. Rotten dog.

  12. Have you ever been spooked by anything while hunting gators?
Not really? can't think of anything - I've been hunting in the swamps close to my home or even just riding through them since I was a kid. I know most of them around here inside and out.

  13. How is Tyler doing?
believe it or not this is the question I get asked the most! Tyler is and always will be spoiled around my house. He pretty much rules the roost, second in command to my grandaughters! His health is good for his age and he gets very regular checkups just to be sure! When fans come out to our meet and greets most of them admit they really came to see/pet Tyler.

  14. Will the grandchildren be following in paw paw's footsteps one day? And would Kris ever consider gator hunting? Or does he...
Gator hunting is and will be in the future and family thing! Janice, my youngest daughter and my wife Janet would always hunt with me - not usually help but just kinda keep me company - same with my oldest granddaughter Jillian, she loves to go ride in the boat with pops! Now my oldest daughter, Lorraine, is a different story - she loves going down the river - but drop her off at the camp b/c she doesn't want to spend hours in the boat pulling lines! Her husband Kris (they've been married about 13 years) would also go with me from time to time - he enjoys hunting with me. Since the show started, I can't have anyone in the boat with me for taping reasons so all my old tag alongs are having hunting withdrawals. So I hope fans understand now, why I can't take them hunting - for one b/c of the show taping and for two b/c my family is waiting patiently to join me on hunts.

  15. When you're not hunting gators what else you do?
Good question, gator hunting is only for one month! For the last 30 years I managed and co-owned my father-in-laws alligator and turtle farm, just recently we've had some family issues come up and he is very sick so I'm not running the farm right now. So now b/c of the show - I travel all over the US when I'm invited to do "meet and greets" for companies like Bass Pro, Academy and Gander mountain (and many more). In my spare time - family comes first- I enjoy spending time with my 2 granddaughters. We are also in process of building a new business - camps that we are offering for vacation rentals etc. - can't wait! I like to hunt and fish - gunsmith - etc

My grandfather Louis Hebert would hunt gators when I was just a little boy - he taught me alot about hunting and fishing. Well that would be cool to get all of those shows together , but b/c of contracts and just the complications of realiy TV it will probably never happen!LOL

  23. Does you family own a alligator farm just wondering i thought i saw one of your kin on python hunters?
Well it's a complicated story, but my wife's father owns an alligator and turtle farm that me, my wife, and daughters have ran for about 30 years. Just recently my father in law became sick with dementia (very tough disease) and via his sickness has allowed another family to manage the farm - we know our gators are not being properly cared for and this hurts us the most of all, however hopefully soon we will take care of this huge family issue!

My wife's father has hunted gators since he was 5 - he has the oldest gators in captivity on his alligator farm so she was pretty used to the idea. Before the show, she would ride along with me - gator season is so busy that's the only way she would get to spend time with me

The best and easiest way we like to eat it is by slicing it into small "nuggets" and frying it just like you fry fish. so yummy We serve it up with some fries, shrimp and fish and lots of ketchup!

  28. What do you do if you tag out for the season and find an extra gator on a line when you are pulling them down? Are you then allowed to legally cut them loose?
If I am down to a small amount of tags I usually only put that many lines out that way I don't need to cut anything loose. I copied for you the regulation on that from Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries site : No person shall release any alligator from any taking device for any purpose without first dispatching the alligator, except in the event that an alligator is hooked and the hunter's quota has been reached, the hunter must immediately release the alligator in the most humane method possible. All hooks and lines shall be removed when an alligator hunter's quota is reached.

I've been doing it a long time -It's just the way I did it - experience I guess, but I've always hunted gators by myself in my boat - sometimes a family member would ride along, but for the mostpart I was by my lonesome.
